Performance Exercise Series: Dumbbell Farmer’s Carry

The farmer’s carry is an incredibly effective and easy to learn exercise that will pack on muscle and improve stability throughout the entire body. It will also build grip strength and endurance which can be very valuable to athletes like grapplers, wrestlers, and football players among others. Begin by picking up a pair of heavy dumbbells and holding them with a tight grip at your sides. Keep your ribcage neutral and your abs tight. Take one step at a time, contracting your glutes with each step. Keep your core stabile and resist the tendency to sway from side to side as you walk.
